Wharf Construction
The Koniambo Nickel Wharf was a significant project for Smithbridge, as it marked the success of another large scale wharf project. The project showcases Smithbridge's abilities in wharf construction, and also experience on intercultural projects. The €36 million job was completed in August 2010.
The Koniambo Wharf project in New Caledonia demonstrates our capacity to construct a large scale wharf structure over water in remote and environmentally sensitive conditions. The wharf deck which is 150m long x 18m wide is supported on 108No long steel tube piles driven from the water with a specially designed pile gate to allow the piles to be placed at any orientation required.
