Temporary Piled access bridges for construction work over water have been the foundation tool for much of the Smithbridge Group success. Initially these were built around Bailey Bridge sections and were suitable for cranes up to 80 tonne capacity. Growth in component weights and crane sizes forced the development of a heavy duty standard structure in 2006. Smithbridge now has over 500m of “mechano set” style temporary bridge hardware suitable for up to 250t size crawler cranes. This is available for rental to projects for erection by client own work crews, or with Smithbridge providing the equipment and labour required to erect and later dismantle the temporary structure. The structure is usually built in 12m spans and can be assembled at a rate of 1 x 12m span per work shift.
