The founder of the Smithbridge Group, Albert has overseen at close quarters the growth and expansion of the various business entities while maintaining close contact with the tendering and construction of all projects undertaken by the group. He founded Smithbridge Guam in 1990 and Australia in 2001 to emulate the successes achieved in New Zealand. As Director of the Smithbridge Group he contributes significantly in strategic planning as well as providing valuable technical, commercial and logistical support to the business.

crane rental business with a staff in excess of 300
and a crane fleet in excess of 200.
Crane sizes from 1 tonne to 600 tonnes.

manager shareholders

Smithbridge Australia
2001 - current
Director Established civil contracting business in Australia to
emulate successes in New Zealand. Introduced a
new Managing Director in 2005 and now provides a
supporting role until 2010. He is currently group managing
director which includes responsibility for Smithbridge
Australia.
Smithbridge New Zealand
2000 – 2003
Managing Director Formed Smithbridge New Zealand to undertake civil
and marine contracting predominantly in New
Zealand following the break-up of the McConnell
Smith JV. Company grew to approx 200 employess prior to
being sold to a NZ roading contractor in 2003. Smithbridge
New Zealand recommenced trading in 2011 with Albert
as managing director
McConnell Smith
1997 - 2000
Managing Director Responsible for overall company management of
this Joint Venture company.
Resume included the successful tendering and
construction of the challenging Otira viaduct in
South Island NZ.
McConnel Smith was renamed as Smithbridge New
Zealand in 2000.
Smithbridge Guam
1992 - current
Managing Director Commenced trading as a civil contractor in Guam in
1992. Has since expanded operations to include
heavy civil and mechanical contracting, heavy plant
hire and it’s own quarry operation. Smithbridge
Guam employs over 100 staff and is now a leading local
heavy civil engineering contractor.

Managing Director Responsible for overall company management,
tendering, management of construction activities
with 100 employees and in excess of $5 million of
plant. ASI was registered in Australia and acted as
the parent company / shareholder for the group. ASI
since been renamed as the Smithbridge Group.
